CollegeNET Sues the Common App

collegenetThere's no doubt that the Common App did not deliver on its promises this past season. Not only were no supplements available on August 1, the "new and improved" Common App was riddled with glitches, missing essay questions, and payment, formatting, and submitting issues. In other words, it was a nightmare for many students (especially those without College Essay Organizer to lead the way) since it is used exclusively by many of its more than 500 member schools. CollegeNET Inc., a competing company that customizes and processes online application forms for higher education and nonprofit groups, just filed a lawsuit against the Common App for violating U.S. antitrust laws and consequently harming students. According to CollegeNET, the Common App is trying to monopolize the application process, and the company is seeking money damages. See this article for more details.
